Official Title: Business Services Associate Director

Working Title: Associate Director of Finance and Administration - Psychiatry

Job Summary:

The Associate Director of Finance and Administration (ADFA) will work collaboratively with the Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) and the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry (DOP) to provide leadership to faculty and staff within the Department. This newly created role is responsible for developing and directing long range strategic business plans for the Department in tandem with the DFA, aligning with financial structures and projections. This position will be responsible for establishing standardized practices across the Dept Cores and Offices with the help of Core and Office leadership. The ADFA will also be responsible for completion of mid-year and end of year budget season.  This position will be required to understand clinical revenue and contracts which support the Departments annual budgets. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and oversight to the Department of Psychiatry Cores including but not limited to: HR, Finance, and Operations through a direct reporting relationship. 
  • Within the first year, assume direct reporting supervision and oversight of the Psychiatry Research Innovations Office, Communications Office, Business Intelligence and Revenue Cycle, and Office of Education and Training.
  • Collaborate with the DFA to understand and drive strategic initiatives for the Department.
  • Meet regularly with the DFA to strategize and share information related to the operations of the department and to align on management and direction of Cores.
  • Provide support to the 5 divisional administrative and faculty leaders when appropriate.
  • Assist DFA in coordination of community and governmental liaisons within the Dept to provide a unified perspective to external partners when requested and appropriate.
  • Keep abreast of changes to healthcare policy, coding, and specific issues related to Behavioral Health to develop proactive solutions and disseminate information.
  • When needed or requested, act as back up to DFA in negotiations and communication with the SOM, hospital partners, and Chancellor's office, with decision making authority at the direction of the Chair and DFA.
  • Oversee, with DFA and division administrators, an approximate $85-90M per year budget comprised of many braided, complex funding streams.  Direct and oversee the annual budgeting processes including twice per year salary setting and review for a 750 member department.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least four (4) years of directly related, high-level management experience.

A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business services or another related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically excel.
  • Proficiency in CU HCM, CUCareers, and Finance systems including Contract Logix
  • Knowledge of CU Human Resources and Finance policies and procedures.
  • Experience with grants and contracts.
  • Experience working with state and federal government agencies.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $87,093 - $110,783.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
