The University of Iowa Center for Advancement (UICA) seeks an Associate Director of Alumni Engagement on the Campus and Volunteer Engagement team. The position works closely with the advancement team and reports to the Director of Campus and Volunteer Engagement.
Creates meaningful outreach initiatives to build relationships between the University of Iowa and its alumni and friends across the state and country and around the globe. Works in a collaborative Alumni Engagement team to encourage Alumni Engagement for the University of Iowa through thoughtful programming, honoring each stage of the alumni life-cycle.
**Position allows for telecommuting/work from home (up to 3 days per week depending upon business need and leader approval). Our office is located in Iowa City, IA.
- Cultivates alumni and friend relationships through personal visits, events, or group meetings. Engages alumni in the life of the university, making connections with current students, faculty, and administrators as well as with other alumni.
- Promotes active engagement by alumni and friends, individually or in defined groups, to increase participation through well-defined strategies that may include, volunteer recruitment, marketing initiatives, virtual programs, events, educational programs, outreach, mentoring programs, and advocacy efforts.
- Promotes volunteer opportunities for alumni through clubs, affinity groups, colleges/units, speaking opportunities, career networks, or similar programs.
- Researches, develops, and executes events to drive participation and engage alumni and friends. Maximizes event attendance through innovative programming and communications. Manages event logistics including venue and vendor selections, invitation segments, tracking, program development, material preparation, communications, budget, timelines, event evaluation, and on-site staffing and troubleshooting.
- Collaborates as an active partner with University academic and non-collegiate units (e.g. admissions, career services, athletics, central strategic communications) to develop and enhance alumni programming, communications, and engagement. Works to connect alumni and friends to collegiate/unit programs as appropriate.
- Identify alumni who would like to begin or increase their engagement with Iowa, by connecting them to appropriate pathways, including volunteerism and philanthropy, as engagement prospects
- Provide support for engagement programs and participates in university-centered alumni events and initiatives (e.g. DAA Awards and Homecoming).
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree + 3 years of related experience required, preferably in Alumni Engagement, development, higher education or related field
