Job description

Benefits Data Trust (BDT) seeks an Associate Director of Advancement (ADA) to play a leading role in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting 5-7 figure philanthropic investments from foundations and other grant makers. The ADA will partner closely with the rest of the Advancement Team to build strong relationships with funders in BDT's regional markets and nationally. The ideal candidate is an experienced fundraising or revenue professional passionate about helping low- and vulnerable-income families access the benefits they are likely eligible for in a dignified and humanity-focused way. This role is an exciting opportunity for a skilled relationship builder and authentic communicator who is energized by designing and engaging funding partnerships both easily seen and not seen and understands the potential that strong funding relationships can have in bringing about true and
sustained social progress and positive change.
The ADA reports to the Senior Director of Advancement and may have a direct report. BDT is a remote-first organization. Employees may work remotely and/or from BDT's Philadelphia office.
Responsibilities:
  • Secure funding, especially from new funding sources
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with new potential funders, with a focus on regional funders in the states where BDT provides direct service
  • Manage a dynamic, active, multi-million-dollar prospect portfolio
  • Serve as an internal advocate for funders and funding opportunities, and liaise and coordinate closely with program delivery teams to create exciting and synergistic funding scopes for funders in your portfolio
  • Partner closely with our Philanthropy Manager - Proposals and Reports, to craft and deliver compelling proposals to funders in your portfolio
  • Work in tandem and in support of the Senior Philanthropy Manager to be a representative of BDT in local markets at conferences, events, and other impact convenings to identify and build relationships with potential funders
  • Work closely with team members to ensure smooth stewardship and renewal of funding relationships

Requirements:
  • At least five years of progressive experience in fundraising, including experience as a frontline fundraiser leading the cultivation, solicitation, and
    awarding of 5-7-figure gifts
  • A proven track record of building dynamic relationships with funders that
    result in successfully securing five to six-figure multi-year gifts
  • Demonstrated experience in crafting and composing grant applications
  • Apparent ability to articulately digest and convey a complicated mission in a compelling and motivating way• Ability to independently manage priorities, identify opportunities, think strategically, and see possibilities where others might not
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
  • Extensive computer experience and comfort using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in using a relational database/ CRM, ideally Salesforce
  • Self-starter who works well autonomously and as a member of a highly
    collaborative team

The salary range starts at $100,000 and is commensurate with relevant experience.
