JOB DESCRIPTION
TMZ is seeking an Associate Director, Media Applications Management for our IT organization, reporting to the Executive Director of IT. This role is responsible for the Media Asset Management (MAM) application as well as developing and supporting internal tools that are both integrated with and external to the MAM and other applications. The role provides day-to-day and project related expertise and support. This position is located in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities:

• Principal MAM administration for audio, video and image ingestion, transformation and digital delivery.
• Work with IT team to integrate digital media workflows with up and downstream systems.
• Provide hands-on desktop user support and troubleshooting for MAM application and workflows.
• Forward thinker in terms of MAM best practices, including workflows, taxonomies and naming conventions.
• Provide direct project management, analysis, configuration, development, testing, maintenance, enhancements, and/or support activities of various enterprise-wide media workflows and applications.
• Development and troubleshoot custom scripts and tools used to automate and streamline various media workflows.
• Develop and maintain various media encoding and transcoding profiles and workflows.
• Ensure digital delivery and notifications of digital deliveries are timely and error-free.
• Perform routine updates and upgrades to core and ancillary MAM applications.
• Ensure MAM application database backups and logs are routinely functioning.
• Provide support for the delivery media to the TMZ Tour Bus operations, as well as ensuring that the tour applications are functioning as intended.
• Develop tools and provide support for external media and metadata ingestion.
• Ability to identify and recognize external issues that affect the functionality of Media Applications, such as storage, network and security issues.
• Ability to maintain composure and high technical aptitude in highly stressful situations.
• Report bugs and feature requests with various media application vendors.

Requirements:

• 7+ years' experience managing mission critical media asset management systems in a television environment, such as Dalet, OpenText, North Plains, etc.
• Dalet experience strongly preferred.
• 7+ years' experience with media processing and transcoding systems and technologies, such as AmberFin, Adobe Media Encoder, Digital Rapids, Harmonic, Telestream, FFmpeg, etc.
• Experience working with the postproduction suite of Adobe products, including Premiere and After Effects.
• Extensive experience working with various audio, video and image formats/codecs.
• Extensive technical knowledge of Windows operating system troubleshooting and configuration.
• Experience working with and even developing APIs.
• Strong proficiency in an application development language, such as Cold Fusion, Groovy, C++, Perl, CGI ASP, PowerShell
• Strong SQL Server Database administration / development expertise
• Experience in analysis and creation of documentation
• Filmed entertainment, postproduction, or broadcast experience
• Strong analytical skills and effective problem solving
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Should be available for a flexible work schedule (early mornings and weekends)
• Ability to effectively and efficiently work in a fast pace environment

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $150,000.00-165,000.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
