Position Summary:
ultracurious - Apply your biggest ideas in courageous ways
As Associate Director, Clinical Biomarker Strategy you will contribute to the general Biomarker strategy in a multi-functional team including Translational Sciences, clinical, regulatory, commercial, business development and alliance management functions. You will report to the Executive Director, Biomarker strategy.
Work Model:
Flex: This role will typically require onsite work 2-3 days each week, or more depending on business needs. In many locations, the business will set certain days each week that Flex employees are required to be onsite.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement biomarker strategy to meet program needs across a diverse portfolio of therapeutic areas and treatment modalities. Clearly communicate this strategy to key stakeholders and senior management.
  • Oversee technical aspects of assay development and validation, clinical implementation of the assay, data analysis and interpretation in clinical context; organize meetings (internal and with partners).
  • Evaluate technologies and assays regarding their scientific basis, clinical applicability and validation status for clinical biomarker (CDx development experience is a bonus)
  • Contribute to submissions to regulatory agencies: Author biomarker sections of clinical protocols, clinical study reports, informed consents; support submissions to regulatory agencies including FDA and EMA (e.g. IDE, PMA, CE mark).
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations and Sample Management to coordinate biomarker analyses for clinical trials.
  • Participate in implementation and further development of innovative biomarker assays (in-house and with partners).
  • Manage CROs through assay development and sample analyses.

Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy or comparable field; either PhD with minimum of 5-8 years or Master's Degree with minimum 5 to 8 years of related experience in the biotech/ pharmaceutical or diagnostic industry.
  • Experience in biomarker strategy development, bioanalytical assay development, optimization and validation.
  • Experience in immunoassay and molecular biology techniques: Sequencing technologies, understanding of NGS and qPCR, ligand-binding assays, LC/MS and liquid biopsy analyses would be preferred.
  • Ideally experience in biomarker testing and assay development and validation in the framework of clinical trials, understanding of regulatory aspects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a desire to work in a highly cross functional environment, and a strategic mindset are critical requirements.
  • Strong project management and organization skills to manage and complete deliverables in accordance with timelines.
  • Proven scientific excellence and ability to evaluate, interpret and present complex scientific data.

The typical annual salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.
Pay Range
$192,000 - $237,200 USD
