Required Qualifications

Work Experience:
- Five years of teaching experience in multiple courses with content relevant to medical student basic science education
- Experience directing higher education courses

Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective mentoring relationships with students.
Administrative
- Responsible for the organization of the Phase I curriculum on the Salina campus including coordination of schedules between the other campuses.
- Ongoing liaison with Wichita and Kansas City Campus for phase 1 issues.
- Collaborates with the Associate Dean of Clinical Experiences and the Anatomy/Clinical Skills director and to coordinate theoretical didactic classes and to ensure a smooth transition between Phase I and Phase II.
- Represent and or serve in a leadership role for the Salina campus in various committee meeting, including but not limited to education strategy, phase I committees, education council, and ace curriculum meetings.
- May be asked to represent the Salina campus to potential medical students by serving as a member of the admissions committee and participating in various recruiting programs.
- Supervise the Phase I and Clinical Skills coordinator
- Work with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs regarding all Phase I students.
- Recruit, train, and oversee volunteer faculty facilitating a Phase I class.
- Will annually provide budgetary needs for Phase 1
- Direct the Phase 1 and Clinical Skills coordinator.
Educational
- Manage scheduling of active-learning activities (CBCLs, PBLs, gross anatomy, and other small groups and labs) for 1st and 2nd year medical students on the Salina campus. These activities should be equivalent to those required on the Kansas City and Wichita campuses.
- Recruit, train and oversee Phase 1 faculty.
- Maintain a positive learning environment by frequently interacting with medical students and providing mentorship and tutoring.
- Monitor the performance of students in Phase I.
- Represent the Salina students in educational issues that may arise.
- Teach Phase I students through lectures, small groups, or other sessions.
- Write and review questions for lectures and attend block preview meetings.
- Review questions for the NBME as required.
- Attend educational conferences and webinars
- Mentor Phase 1 students as needed
- Attend Block Preview meetings
Research
- Engage in scholarly activities in medical education (e.g., curricular innovations, educational outcomes, teaching methods)-this may include authoring publications, applying for educational grants, participating in national activities such as giving workshops, presenting abstracts, and serving as a member of education committees.
