Associate Curator

Position Summary

Assist across and contribute to the planning, design, coordination, and delivery of a variety of museum programs and materials that connect broad audiences to the Museum’s exhibitions and related programming that are tailored to serve visitor needs; serve as Manager on Duty at public-facing events at the Museum.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in History, Art, Education, Museum Studies or a related field, and
Two (2) years of experience working in a museum , historical property or community education setting.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Preferred Knowledge

• Operational characteristics, services and activities of Museum.
• Principles and theories of anthropology, history, or art
• Methods and techniques of museum policies and procedures
• Modern Office procedures, methods and computer equipment
• Knowledge of local community history and heritage
• Modern and complex principles and practices of contract negotiations and contract agreements
• Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
• Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations
