Northwestern State University is currently accepting applications for Associate Bursar. This leadership role is responsible for several management, planning and communication functions related to accounting operations within the Bursar section of the Business Affairs Office.

Qualifications
  • B.S. Degree in Accounting or related field of study
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience is preferred in the Ellucian Banner Student and Finance System.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work efficiently under the pressure of deadlines without immediate supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Job Concepts
  • Provide direct oversight to employees within the Cashiering and Student Accounting areas.
  • Maintain fee assessment tables and schedules and ensure accurate posting to student accounts.
  • Plan and direct each semester's student billing cycle.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintenance of University's payment processing system.
  • Maintain the Student Accounting portion of the University's website.
  • Communicate with various University departments, third parties, students, auditors and others regarding billing and collections policies and procedures.
  • Complete reconciliations and reports related to both student and non??student accounts receivable.
  • Analyze and interpret accounting data and statements.
  • Provide excellent customer service as a student services representative and assist in answering questions and concerns related to billing functions.
  • Assist in the review of Bursar Section policies and procedures to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Complete additional duties as requested by the Assistant Controller and Bursar.
