Galloway law firm seeks associate to join their team. Looking for 2 – 3-year associate w/experience in maritime and admiralty law, insurance defense or litigation defense or civil litigation.
Job Description: An Associate Attorney specializing in maritime and admiralty law is responsible for research, litigation, transactional work, and some client interaction. The Associate Attorney works closely with senior attorneys, clients, and other legal professionals to ensure that maritime and admiralty legal issues are effectively addressed.
Responsibilities:
1. Legal Research: Conduct in-depth legal research to analyze case law, statutes, regulations, and international treaties related to maritime and admiralty law.
2. Case Management: Represent clients in litigation involving maritime casualties, cargo disputes, marine insurance claims, salvage operations, and other maritime-related conflicts.
3. Transactional Work: Draft and review marine contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to maritime transactions, including vessel charters, bills of lading, and maritime liens.
4. Client Consultation: Advise clients on legal matters pertaining to maritime operations, shipping regulations, marine insurance issues, marine environmental regulations,and international trade considerations.
5. Legal Writing: Prepare legal briefs, memos, pleadings, and motions for court proceedings, arbitration, and negotiation.
6. Court Appearances: Represent clients in various legal proceedings, such as hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
7. Legal Strategy: Develop legal strategies and provide recommendations to clients based on an understanding of maritime law and the specifics of the case.
8. Collaboration: Collaborate with other legal professionals, experts, and investigators to gather evidence, build cases, and provide comprehensive legal solutions.
9. Compliance: Ensure clients' activities and operations comply with relevant maritime regulations and international laws.
Qualifications:
· Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
· Admission to the Texas state bar, federal district courts, including Southern District of Texas
· Strong understanding of maritime law, including admiralty statutes, regulations, and international conventions.
· Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
· Experience in handling maritime litigation and transactional matters is preferred.
· Effective communication and negotiation skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
· Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
· Prior experience with maritime industry clients and understanding of maritime operations is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
