What You'll Do in This Position
The responsibilities of this position are specific to the current and planned analytical scope supported by the Environmental Bioassay Laboratories (735-B).
Perform a variety of laboratory support functions including but not limited to procedure development, personnel training, instrument troubleshooting/installation and database management. Perform analytical methods where the level of technical understanding required exceeds that expected of technicians and dedicated practice of the technology is needed to provide consistent results. Support research efforts by developing special hardware and apparatus.
Uses resourceful thinking and intellectual application of knowledge, prior recorded problems, and the experience of more senior professionals to solve technical problems. Receives direction, instruction, and possible solutions from management and senior technical support staff.
Interface with a broad base of customers (EC&ACP and SW&ER) to understand their process and establish
required analytical services. Based on customer interfaces,
individual is expected to determine methodology needed to provide customer with requested analytical support.
Respond to customer concerns, DOE inquires and management questions associated with analytical services. Perform special analytical methods. Maintain control of Nuclear Material associated with analytical activities. Maintain/Troubleshoot analytical methods and systems in support of customer.
Implement MS&E programs, assess method performance and take actions as appropriate to ensure methods remains "in control".
Develop/review/validate procedures supporting analytical
methods and systems. Develop and implement OJT packages.
Develop research apparatus. Provide general programmatic support as needed to maintain analytical capabilities (e.g., chemical control, waste handling, environmental and RadCon).
Individuals is expected to perform these duties with minimal guidance and direction from management and senior technical support staff.
Provide technical oversight for simple, routine analytical methods/systems. Security Clearance Information
SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential
Qualifications We Desire
College degree in a science related field preferred.
Practical laboratory experience preferred.
