Job Description Summary:
The University of La Verne is a private not-for-profit university founded in 1891 located in La Verne, California. The core values that we live by are Ethical Reasoning, Diversity and Inclusivity, Lifelong Learning, and Community and Civic Engagement.
>>>If you're passionate about these values, join us at University of La Verne!
The Department of Applied Business Sciences and Economics in the College of Business and Public Management at the University of La Verne seeks a candidate to fill a tenure-track position in Accounting at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin in the fall of 2019. The Department seeks an individual who strives to be an outstanding teacher and scholar. The successful candidate must have earned or be expected to earn a Ph.D. in Accounting from an AACSB accredited institution by July 2017 and demonstrate the ability to publish in high quality peer-reviewed journals, to teach effectively in graduate and undergraduate programs, and to provide service to the University and community.
The College of Business and Public Management (CBPM) is growing and is positioning for pursuit of AACSB accreditation. The candidate selected will have an opportunity to join a committed and diverse faculty, to play a key role in planning the future direction and growth of the College, and to participate in collaborative research projects, and outreach to the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. CBPM seeks candidates whose teaching, research, and service have prepared them to contribute to the University's commitment to diversity and inclusivity in higher education.
The College is interested in candidates who have an understanding of the barriers facing women, minorities, and first-generation college students and who have a record of success in advising individuals from groups under-represented in higher education.
The University of La Verne is an independent, comprehensive, doctoral-granting institution in southern California with a strong emphasis on teaching excellence and a growing emphasis on research and publication. La Verne offers high quality, liberal arts and professional degree programs at the undergraduate to doctoral levels to both traditional-age and adult learners. The University is recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) with 40% of the student population identifying themselves as “Hispanic/Latino,” 55% as students of color, 10.2% as international students, and approximately 50% as first-generation college students. Central to every student's experience at the University is the La Verne Experience which provides a student-centered, values-based diverse learning environment and takes pride in offering small class sizes in a highly personalized setting.
The University of La Verne has a strong commitment to diversity among its faculty and students and places a high priority on creating an environment that supports the growth and success of under-represented and underserved populations. The University is an equal opportunity employer and seeks candidates with diverse backgrounds (including gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, heritage, social class, disabilities, religious beliefs and worldviews, veteran status, sexual orientation, and age). For more information regarding the University of La Verne, visit our website at http://www.laverne.edu.
Interested candidates should submit a current curriculum vitae, cover letter including teaching philosophy and goals, a sample of a research paper, graduate transcripts, teaching evaluations, and contact information for at least three professional references. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
Specific Duties:

The workload is split into 60/30/10 with teaching representing 60% of the workload, research and scholarly activities 30%, and community service and community engagement 10%. Faculty is expected to teach six courses per year at the graduate and/or undergraduate level.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in Management from an AACSB accredited institution or be expected to earn a Ph.D. by July 2019.
2. Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching excellence. Experience working with a diverse student body is desirable.
