Position Purpose: The Assistant Young Adults Director is primarily responsible for innovative leadership and vision for ministry to 18-30 year olds. This position will develop and manage programs and teams focused on college-age and post-college-aged individuals within First Pres with an eye towards engaging the rapidly growing "young adult" community of Colorado Springs.

Description

This position will develop and manage programs and teams focused on college-age and post-college-aged individuals within First Pres with an eye towards engaging the rapidly growing "young adult" community of Colorado Springs.
Essential Roles:
- High School Seniors
- Aid in strategic initiatives in the Spring to help seniors make the jump from High School ministry to College Ministry at First Pres.
- Spring - Work with High School Team to facilitate handoff from HS to College (Senior "college-prep" initiatives, Worship nights, End-of-year celebration, phone calls/postcard/etc.)
- Summer - Relationships. Connect students to the community of college students via summer events, Bible study, Senior Trip, etc.
- Fall - Confirm/document location and contact info (phone/email/address) for students. Initiate Sept-May sequence for out-of-town students.
- Aid in strategic initiatives in the Spring to help seniors make the jump from High School ministry to College Ministry at First Pres.
- College Ministries
- Connect in-town students with the ministries of First Pres and develop specific programs to engage these individuals.
- Sunday Community, Life Groups, Events, Evangelistic/outreach efforts, etc.
- Connect with out-of-town students throughout the year.
- Email, Text, Care packages, and develop lay-team who will pray for these students.
- Plan events, Bible studies, etc. specifically for students home on breaks (Christmas/Summer).
- Develop team of lay-leaders focused on College Ministry
- Develop partnerships with local Campus Ministries
- Work with leaders of ministries such as, CollegeYL, CRU, Intervarsity, Navigators, RUF, etc. to build bridges between local campuses and First Pres.
- Connect in-town students with the ministries of First Pres and develop specific programs to engage these individuals.
- Young Adults Ministry
- Manage programs specifically focused on helping Young Adults (20s) form and grow in relationship with Christ, develop peer-community, and connect into the life of First Pres. (BaseCamp, Life Groups, Retreats, Worship Nights, Service Projects, etc.)
- Recruit, train, lead YA Core Team / lay leadership Team focused on Young Adult Ministry.
- Work with Comms team to ensure vibrant communication strategies, social media engagement, etc. to encourage 20-somethings moving to COS to consider First Pres.
- Develop mentoring network within 1P and resources to support those relationships.
- Primary contact for Young Adults exploring First Pres and champion of YA outreach.
- Help YAs "root" at First Pres and eventually transition into other ministries.
Qualifications
Basic Duties:
- Understand and implement ministry consistently aligned with the mission and vision of First Presbyterian Church.
- Efficiently carry out all administrative duties of the position, including prompt response to correspondence, voice mail, and email.
- Develop ways to connect through events, activities and individual contact, including follow-up for visitors and non-attendees, and foster relationships among those individuals with one another.
- Equipping of lay leaders and teachers to include theological/biblical trainings, risk management, church protocol, group leadership skills, specific activity skills, and evangelism and community outreach.
- Work in collaboration with staff and lay leaders to develop strategies for evaluation and oversight of programs.
- Develop and work with lay leaders to broaden the scope of vision, understanding and connectedness through worship and in the life of the church.
- Be available for crisis response as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
General Responsibilities:
- Represent Christ and First Presbyterian Church with grace and hospitality.
- Understand and support the vision, values, mission and ministry of First Pres.
- Work collaboratively with other staff towards ministry vision and goals, follow the staff values and norms, follow the Guidelines as stated in the Employee Guidelines Manual, and respect confidentiality.
- Engage in opportunities for ongoing spiritual growth including personal retreats and follow-up, worship, staff retreats, Bible study, spiritual mentoring, etc.
- Regularly attend appropriate staff meetings, staff chapel and appropriate meetings or events as assigned.
