Warehouse & Logistics Manager

Thacker is a wholesaler of caskets and funeral supplies selling to a consistent customer base of licensed funeral homes its distribution areas. Thacker operates over 16 distribution centers in over 20 states serving thousands of customers on an annual basis. Thacker is currently looking to add an Assistant Warehouse Manager/Driver position. In this position, you will have entire responsibility of shipping funeral supply products to funeral homes within the warehouse’s assigned geographic region. In addition, you will lead and manage a small team of typically four drivers, inspecting the products prior to shipment and coordinating your team’s routes for the day. Within this position it is important to have a proactive and positive leadership style.
The position is located in Canton, MS distribution center.
Duties of the position include:
- Delivering caskets to customers as needed.
- Helping lead a team with a positive approach.
- Preparing and inspecting products before delivery.
- Unloading and receiving inbound shipments on tractor trailers.
- Ensuring all vehicles (15 ft. box trucks) are DOT compliant.
- Repairing any small issues and flaws found in products prior to delivery.
- Processing all shipping, receiving and return paperwork timely and accurately.
- Keeping a clean and organized distribution center facility and vehicle fleet.
- Training new drivers.
- Interfacing with the operations, customer service and sales teams in a collaborative manner.
Required Qualifications & Characteristics:
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to lift heavy products; over 50 lbs.
- Over the age of 21.
- Minimum of two years driving experience.
- DOT compliant; if not, DOT physical will need to be completed as part of the hiring process.
- Reliable form of transportation to and from work.
Preferred Qualifications & Characteristics:
- Previous experience in operating large vehicles.
- Previous training in inspecting and repairing products.
- Forward thinking and proactive in nature.
