Job Duties:

Coaching

  • Train varsity women's volleyball team for intercollegiate competition at a nationally competitive level.
  • Assist the head coach in developing and implementing game plans.
  • Maintain and increase knowledge of volleyball training and coaching techniques.
  • Supervise the training, development and placement of staff personnel.

Recruiting

  • Evaluate prospective student-athletes.
  • Develop and maintain correspondence for prospective student-athletes.
  • Schedule, coordinate and supervise official and unofficial visits of prospective student-athletes.

Academics

  • Monitor academic performance of student-athletes.
  • Counsel student-athletes.
  • Insure compliance with all UCCS and NCAA regulations regarding academic eligibility requirements.

Scheduling

  • Assist head coach with planning and coordinating Division II schedule within NCAA, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and institutional guidelines.
  • Assist head coach with planning and coordinating team travel and lodging.

Job Competencies:

Work Location: On-site

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $40,000 - $43,170 per year

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs offers excellent benefits, some of which include:

  • Generous paid vacation and sick time accruals (14.67 hours of vacation and 10 hours of sick accrued per month, prorated if part-time)
  • Mandatory retirement plans. Employees contribute 5% of their annual compensation. CU doubles that and contributes 10%

This position is dependent on the availability of auxiliary revenues funding.

Tentative Search Timeline:

  • Priority will be given to applications submitted by 11/30/2023. However, this posting will remain open until filled.
  • The potential dates for interviews with the search committee will be the week of 12/4/2023.
  • The potential dates for interviews with the supervisor and appointing authority will be the week of 12/12/2023.
  • The potential employee start date is 1/1/2024.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Coaching experience at the college or high school level
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations in a multi-cultural environment that is committed to diversity and equality in education.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. Employee is occasionally required to kneel, crouch, reach, handle, have near acuity and visual depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and will frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions and meet the physical and environment demands described satisfactorily.
