We are currently searching for an enthusiastic AVP of Community Partnerships that is committed to overseeing and managing all partnerships and sponsorships to enhance the institution’s visibility and support our business objectives. The AVP of Community Partnerships will collaborate with various organizations such as University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, Washtenaw Community College, Detroit Lions and other community or campus organizations. They are responsible for the entire lifecycle of partnerships, from contract negotiation and management to measuring their impact on business performance. This person will manage the process of enhancing UMCU’s presence in the community and achieving its business objectives through affinity partnerships and sponsorships. They will identify opportunities and maintain a positive brand awareness that aligns with our strategic objectives and has a significant impact on the universities and colleges, membership and local communities that UMCU serves. The AVP of Community Partnerships will effectively collaborate and coordinate involvement from all departments of the Credit Union for community and campus involvement. They will identify, cultivate and initiate opportunities to increase membership through university and public relations.

What you'll be doing in this role:
  • Coaches, develops and evaluates team members to ensure each team member is achieving their career goals.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with partner organizations, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring a positive partnership experience.
  • Lead negotiations with partner organizations to establish mutually beneficial terms and conditions, ensuring favorable contractual arrangements.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the success of partnerships. Regularly assess and report on the impact of partnerships on business performance.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of partnership contracts, ensuring all parties fulfill their obligations. Handle contract renewals and amendments as necessary.
  • Develops and implements strategies that highlight UMCU brand and build awareness in the community through various networking events, meetings and partnerships.
  • Takes on a leading role and participates in Fall Rush for all University and College partner campuses, increasing UMCU / EMUCU / WCC visibility and relationships throughout.
  • Evaluates opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and account opening to promote brand awareness and engagement.
  • Works closely with Branch managers to expand the outreach opportunities of their branch and identify new ways to build relationships, goodwill and partner with universities, colleges and the communities served.
  • Collaborates within the department and other stakeholders to leverage and deploy affinity assets in order to create and execute marketing campaigns and initiatives that leverage partnerships and enhance brand visibility.
  • Develop and manage the budget allocated for partnership activities, optimizing resources effectively
  • Monitor and analyze the financial impact of partnerships on UMCU’s products and services, making data-driven recommendations for optimization.
  • Ensure all partnerships and sponsorships comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Volunteers in various activities sponsored by UMCU within the University of Michigan and the communities we serve; responsible for meeting with campus partners’ onsite as needed. Representing UMCU and attending/working events as necessitated by the position. Also includes attending internal and external meetings/trainings, team building or UMCU events.
  • Maintains knowledge of and follows all credit union policies and procedures regarding BSA, OFAC, U.S. Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering, S.A.F.E Act, CFPB regulations and Customer Identification Program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you'll need for this role:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field and/or similar experience.
  • 2-3 years of professional work experience
  • Strong negotiation and contract experience
  • Ability to measure and analyze business impact
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Excellent detailed organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Event planning skills desired

  • The environment is typical of an office atmosphere. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
