Liberty Mutual is a leading player in the global insurance and reinsurance industry, and at Liberty Mutual Reinsurance we're seeking a talented Assistant Underwriter to join our Latin America Financial Risks Reinsurance team. Our Latin America portfolio includes reinsurance treaties for specialty classes such as Surety, Short-term credit, and Mortgage insurance. With offices in Miami, Bogotá, and São Paulo, we operate as a unified regional team reporting to our headquarters in London. The Assistant Underwriter will play a crucial role in supporting our underwriters while contributing to the overall strategies objectives of the Global Financial Risks Department.
The Assistant Underwriter will report to the Head of Surety and Credit Reinsurance for Latin America based in Miami, FL.
Please note: Advanced proficiency in both written and verbal English and Spanish. Portuguese skills are a plus but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Thoroughly support underwriters and monitor assigned portfolio to ensures data integrity is maintained within Fin Risks/LMRe by:
- Reviewing, organizing, and pre- analyzing submission information.
- Register and control submission flow for the Latam Fin Risks team in Salesforce.
- Process entries, as required, properly onto relevant systems in a timely manner ensuring accuracy of data with relation to both underwriting and aggregate exposures.
- Periodic reviews of internal reports to ensure data quality of the Latam book of business in the proper systems and controls (Autopoz, FRED)
- Pre-review and compare treaty wordings to support underwriters and manage the wording signature process.
- Comply with deadlines for registration and data quality Front-sheets, Mapping, Autopoz, etc
- Coordination and constant communication with different areas of the organization such as Accounting, Claims, Ops team for proper book monitoring and Data quality.
- Effectively utilize LMRe's models (HX), tools (Fred Mapping and BI), and resources to extract information and prepare reports.
- Contribute and participate in special projects, as requested.
- Contribute for Support the development of the HX platform and others through testing as requested
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification (e.g., ACII).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience within the insurance/reinsurance industry with preference for those experienced in Specialty products (Surety and Short-term credit)
- Intermediate/ advanced level proficiency in Excel and other l software packages.
- Strong numerical, analytical and literacy skills
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to analyze and manipulate data for report preparation and underwriting support.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong team player.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills for building internal and external customer relationships.
