Assistant to the Provostfor Administrative Processing and Communication

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide support within the Office of the Provost/Academic Affairs in matters relating to curriculum process management, website administration, accreditation, academic catalog management, technology, social media, and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist departments and the Office of Institutional Research with accreditation and assessment processes, including the maintenance and management of electronic files.
  • Develop and maintain the Office of Academic and Student Affairs' website and social media accounts/pages, including content placement and content quality. Serve as the liaison between the Colleges and Web Communications to ensure current, consistent, and accurate information.
  • Maintain and manage Academic Catalogs, ensuring that language is consistent, and all revisions made by university curriculum committees (CAPC, GC, & GEC) are reflected accurately where appropriate and necessary. Assist with Degree Audit.
  • Maintain and manage the electronic curriculum process (Curriculog) for the university curriculum committees (CAPC, GC & GEC).
  • Assist in updating and maintaining the course schedule and classroom scheduling.
  • Edit, maintain information within the Student Information System as necessary.
  • Coordinate the implementation of communication strategies for the Office of Academic Affairs, as assigned. Coordinate Academic and Student Affairs activities, special assignments and events as directed by the Provost.
  • Coordinate SVSU's input to the program review processes associated with the Michigan Association of State Universities (MASU)
  • Provide support to the Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.
  • Serve on committees, as appointed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Reports directly to the Provost/VPAA


SUPERSIVION EXERCISED:

This position shares supervisory responsibilities of work-study students.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; professional experience or education beyond a bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of Higher Education, including familiarity with policies, rules and regulations, organization, and protocol.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and software.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work with a high level of discretion and autonomy.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to handle differing situations and problems in the work routine by exercising judgment based on standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work well within a diverse campus community.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technology, including web content management systems and social media.
