Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Assistant to the Athletic Director at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):In accordance with the mission of Wayne State University and the Department of Athletics, the individual will assist in administering all aspects related to the Athletic Department and provide executive-level administrative and professional support to the Director of Athletics. This position serves as the first point of contact to the Athletics Director (AD) internally and externally, assisting with a variety of administrative responsibilities, many of which are sensitive and confidential in nature. The assistant manages administrative functions, serves as an information hub on behalf of the AD and maintains a high level of awareness of the AD's priorities. The position will manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and must be able to evaluate and set work priorities according to the needs of the office. Must be able to work independently, proactively, and collaboratively.
- Bachelor's degree
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in sports administration, marketing, public relations, business administration or related field required.
- Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
- Prior experience working to deadlines and remaining flexible and resourceful.
- Excellent communication skills, a high degree of discretion, a commitment to providing excellent service and building positive working relationships, and attention to details are equally important.
- Ability to interact diplomatically and efficiently with a broad range of individuals, including donors, trustees, coaches/staff, students, university administrators, and external colleagues.
- Strong organizational and supervisory skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks, delegating when necessary, and completing work within deadlines in a changing environment with multiple priorities.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows based systems, in addition to working knowledge in other programs (Adobe, Scheduling Software).
