SUMMARY/SCOPE:
The AssistantStrength and Conditioning Coach will be responsible for implementing strengthand Conditioning methods and practices with respective Hardin-SimmonsUniversity sports as well as assisting the head Strength and Conditioning Coachwith day-to-day operations such as cleaning, organizing, scheduling, andensuring proper communication is consistent with all affiliated universitystaff and administration. Each assistant must be an outstanding citizen with the utmost character and desire to develop athletes physically, mentally,and spiritually.
HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: These examples do not include all possible tasksand do not limit the assignment of related tasks.
Assist Head Strength andConditioning Coach with on field practice andgame assistance.
Supervise graduate assistantand student workers.
Organize andinstruct training sessions among all assigned university sports- including, butnot limited to strength training, speed and agility techniques, properconditioning training, injury prevention, and overall well-being of everyHardin Simmons University athlete.
Be able to useapplicable technology including Microsoft Excel, Teambuildr, and social mediafor department purposes.
Organize and keeptrack of weight room cleaning schedules each week.
Developcommunication channels among HSU coaches and athletic trainers
Seek opportunities to increase job skills andknowledge.
Exhibit compassion and kindness to all campuscommunities in actions and words.
Be able to reason, analyze, prioritize, makejudgements, and solve problems.
Exhibit trustworthiness and honesty in work andinteractions with coaching staff, campus employees, and student athletes.
Always work to improve character skills such ashard work, patience, courage, etc. and integrate a Christian perspective intotheir work, while encouraging student athletes to do the same.
Encourage young players togrow in their faith while demonstrating positive Christian ideals.
Perform other duties asassigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No supervisor responsibilities except oversight ofstudent workers including: the graduate student worker/graduate assistant coachand student assistant (if applicable).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpretdocuments such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, andprocedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Abilityto speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of anorganization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure,using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate,ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems,collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpretan extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram formand deal with several abstract and concrete variables
COMPUTER SKILLS: To performthis job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processingsoftware and Spreadsheet software.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degreerequired (prefer in the field of exercise science).
Minimum one yearof Strength and Conditioning experience in intercollegiate athletics required.
Must haveproficient computer skills, strong work ethic and effective communicationskills as demonstrated through work previous experience.
Must also haveexcellent organizational skills. Candidates will be required to provideexamples of their ability to plan and organize as demonstrated through previouswork experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications required (or must beobtained).

Must be able tophysically move heavy equipment in loads of 100 pounds or more multiple yardsof distance on a regular basis.
Also, must beable to demonstrate and perform various strength movements as well as speed andagility techniques as well.
Must be able to stand and move for long periods of time while performingoffice and gym functions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is an Exempt Level, Professional Staff Positionwhich often requires extended hours beyond a 40-hour work week, especiallyduring the peak season(s) for sports.
Candidate must be able to work non-traditional hours,including nights and weekends depending on the time of year.
There are afternoon practices during season andcompetitions and performances in the afternoons and on weekends.
Occasional overnight travel isrequired, including evenings and weekends, especially during soccer season and recruiting season.
Occasionally holiday work is alsorequired depending on game/practice schedule.
Must be able and willing tocomplete early morning duties as well as assist in occasional weekend sportingactivities. Hours will be based off aflexible schedule so candidates must be readily adaptable to any circumstanceor situation.
Must have and maintain a valid Class C Driver'sLicense and maintain a clear driving record to be insurable under theuniversity liability policy.
Must be able to drive an automobile and 15-passengervan.
Must be able to drive to complete work assignments onand off campus, as needed.
Additional travel may be required on occasion inorder to attend training, etc.
