Job description

Position Overview: The Assistant Strength coach will be involved with the day-to-day administration of all aspects related to performance and physical development for Division II sport programs as assigned. The Assistant Strength coach will be involved in daily communication and interaction with student-athletes, athletic trainers and sport coaches for their respective sport assignments, and will make it priority to grow and develop their student-athletes both academically and athletically. The Assistant Strength coach is responsible for managing, directing, and leading all strategic aspects of their assigned sports’ Strength and Conditioning programs and reports directly to the head strength coach. The Assistant Strength coach will support the mission and values of CSP and serve as a mentor and role model to student athletes.
Essential Duties:
  • WeightRoomOperations: Assist in overall operation of the APC which includes but is not limited to: scheduling, equipment maintenance, budget management, participation and organization of fundraising efforts, managing and mentoring GA’s and interns, and facility upgrades/repairs.
  • ProgramAdministration: Attend all scheduled Strength and Conditioning sessions of assigned sports, oversee leadership and implementation of all aspects of Strength and Conditioning programs of assigned sports, monitor and modify training programs as necessary with-in each session, assign GA and intern duties with in each session, assist in supervision and implementation of other sport Strength and Conditioning programs when necessary.
  • ProgramWriting: Develop annual Strength and Conditioning programs for each individual athlete in their assigned sport programs. Work directly with athletic trainers of their assigned sports to meet needs of all student-athletes in return to play/rehab programs. Attend practices/games when necessary to gain a deeper understanding of the physical demands of their assigned sports as well as assess effectiveness of their Strength and Conditioning program. Communicate daily with head coaches of their assigned sports to ensure continuity and cohesiveness of Strength and Conditioning program and sport practice plan.
  • ContinuingEducation: Do whatever is necessary to stay up to date and educated on the most relevant information in Strength and Conditioning related to all assigned sports. This includes, but is not limited to: reading research/articles, conducting research, attending clinics/conferences, testing programs on yourself/other staff members, watching game film of assigned sports/attending practices and games, collaborating with Strength and Conditioning Coaches from other schools/private facilities.
  • Abide by NCAA, NSIC and CSP rules and regulations.
  • PhysicalDemands: Position requires long hours standing and minor lifting. Position requires various amounts of physical movement and exercise demonstration.
  • WorkingConditions: May require exposure to adverse weather conditions, frequently involves early morning, night and weekend hours.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • 1-3 years in related field
Competencies:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and organization skills
  • Ability to work on a team and in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to articulate sport-specific instruction to student-athletes
  • Exceptional knowledge of general sport-specific concepts
