Assistant Shelter Manager

Responsibilities:

- Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the animal shelter, including managing staff, volunteers, and resources
- Participate in the daily care of the animals including feeding, cleaning and administering medication to dogs and cats at the shelter.
- Assist in implementing policies and procedures to maintain a safe and clean environment for animals
- Assist Shelter Manager in overseeing animal intake, adoption, and foster care programs
- Provide training and support to staff and volunteers on animal care, behavior management, and handling techniques
- Maintain accurate records of animal intake, medical treatments, adoptions, and other relevant information

- Communicate with the public in-person, by telephone and email in a professional manner.

- Participate in adoption process at shelter and at adoption events.

Experience:

- Previous experience working in an animal shelter or similar environment is preferred
- Knowledge of animal care best practices, including medication administration and behavior management
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team of staff and volunteers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with staff, volunteers, and the public
- Proficient in data entry and file management for maintaining accurate records
- Ability to handle conflict situations effectively and diplomatically

Certificate:

- Veterinary Technician Certificate a plus

Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to stand, walk for long periods of time

- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

- Must be able to work in hot/cold climates

- Must be able to kneel, bend, stoop and climb step stools frequently

Other Requirements:

- A valid Driver's license is required

- Must have reliable transportation.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
