Salary Range:  $52,258 - $70,634 (Based on level of degree and experience. Salary may be enhanced by supplemental teaching.) 

This position is funded through its grant until 2030.


Job Description:

The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping the College change as necessary to effectively carryout its mission. The Assistant Professor, Professional Pilot position is directly accountable to the Director of Aviation Program for the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise all students assigned to the class.
  • Maintain discipline, safety, and cleanliness within the classroom and lab environments at all times.
  • Monitor student attendance and retention rate.
  • Follow course outlines and objectives and be able to evaluate students.
  • Be able to teach assigned classes and to effectively manage the day-to-day operation of the class and labs.
  • Prepare lesson plans and provide all class lectures, lab, and clinical instruction according to the required curriculum.
  • Advise students.
  • Maintain academic and FAA records.
  • Attending all scheduled departmental meetings.
  • Develop partners with the local school districts to provide streamlined pathways for students into the Professional Pilot program.
  • Cultivate relationships with business and industry partners to identify and develop employment opportunities for students and graduates.
  • Help recruit business partners to be a part of the Professional Pilot Advisory Committee.
  • Participate in accurate budget planning and operate within the approved budget.
  • Stay up to date with professional trends in the teaching field and help facilitate continual change that may be required to keep instruction current and relevant.
  • Complete annual mandatory compliance training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Aviation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation, Aerospace, Aeronautics, or closely related field from an accredited institution required.
  • FAA Certificate in Flight Instruction preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required.
  • Teaching experience preferred.

All degrees must be from a regionally-accredited postsecondary institution. This full-time 9-month position is eligible for continuing contract status and is contingent upon board approval and funding.
