The undergraduate college at St. Catherine University (St. Kate's) is one of only six US institutions that is both a women's college and a minority serving institution. Based in the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, St. Kate's is home to a diverse group of around 3,500 students in varying disciplines and degree levels. The Department of Fashion, Design, and Merchandising offers a wide array of courses in Design as well as in Merchandising. We seek applicants who are excited about growing the program to reach more students. The applicants should have experience in teaching foundational Fashion courses and upper level Merchandising courses.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching 6 fashion courses.
- The faculty will design and deliver on-campus, hybrid, and online curricula required for fashion foundational and Fashion Merchandising students.
- Serve as a faculty mentor for students in fashion.
- Provide career support: build partnerships with major fashion employers in the Twin Cities to give students greater access to guest speakers, internships, and jobs.
- Provide mentoring support to students within and outside of the classroom.
- Help students expand their professional networks and secure career opportunities.
- Retain and attract students to drive program growth.
- Revise curriculum to keep it current and meet the needs of the market.
- Support marketing efforts for the fashion major and provide representation at Admission and recruiting events.
- Assist with annual Katwalk and summer workshop.
- Manage Department's dress collection.
- Serve as an advisor to St. Catherine Student Fashion Association (SCUFA).

- Master's degree in fashion, textiles, retail merchandising or related field with significant industry and teaching experience.
- Three years of experience in fashion related field.
- Evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching.
- Experience teaching and mentoring diverse student populations.
- Must be available to teach courses on campus, hybrid, or online.
- Doctoral degree in Fashion Merchandising or related field with teaching or industry experience.
- Industry ties to help build partnerships with major fashion and retail employers in the Twin Cities area to provide students with greater access to guest speakers, internships, and jobs.
- Experience in fashion marketing. This faculty member will support department and university marketing efforts and provide representation at Admission events.
- Experience in creating online programming in Fashion Merchandising.
