The undergraduate college at St. Catherine University (St. Kate's) is one of only six US institutions that is both a women's college and a minority serving institution. Based in the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, St. Kate's is home to a diverse group of around 3,500 students in varying disciplines and degree levels. The Department of Economics and Political Science offers a wide array of majors, including Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Financial Economics, International Business and Economics, and Women and International Development. The department also houses the Minnesota Center for Diversity in Economics and is committed to gender and racial diversity at every stage of the educational and career pipeline.
This position will support the students pursuing a major in Public Policy. We seek applicants who are excited about growing the program to reach more students. In addition to teaching Public Policy, strong candidates will be comfortable teaching introductory statistics and American government and more advanced topics courses that appeal to students from various majors within the department.
Responsibilities Include:
- The teaching load is six sections (24 credits) per academic year.
- The creation of knowledge in the discipline resulting in its dissemination through the publication of peer-reviewed articles is expected.
- Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching and a commitment to university service.
- The selected candidate will be responsible for advising undergraduate students and is expected to engage in service activities with colleagues, the department, school, campus, community and professional organizations.
- Applicants should be prepared to work collaboratively to support students who are passionate about social justice and plan to use their training to lead and influence.

- Successful applicants should have a Ph.D. (in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, or related fields) by the beginning of September 2024.
- The candidate should demonstrate evidence of a commitment to excellence in research and teaching as well as alignment with University mission.
- The department places a high priority on collaborative undergraduate research and strong candidates will be able to describe ways they will include students in their research program.
