Job Title:Assistant PrincipalWage/Hour Status: Exempt

Primary Purpose:
Assist the principal in overall campus-level operations so that maximum student learning is accomplished and demonstrated. Work with school faculty and staff, IHE faculty and staff, students and parents to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive educational plan to assist students in earning an associates degree and a high school diploma.

    • Two years of successful teaching experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Management
  • Assist in the coordination and evaluation of the school instructional program to align with the Early College High School (ECHS) blueprint and crosswalks in conjunction with the Principal
  • Work with staff to plan, implement, and evaluate the distinct curriculum and college support classes on a systematic basis
  • Support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals for both high school and college support.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvement in the purposes, design, and implementation of the instructional program as well as other programs related to the mission of the school.
  • Assist in the development of a master schedule that will align with the IHE (TCC Northeast) course schedule and course offerings.
School/Organizational Climate
  • Communicate and promote high expectation levels for staff and student performance in a supportive manner.
  • Provide recognition of excellence and achievement.
  • Establish and maintain an environment conducive to positive staff morale and directed toward the ECHS Outcome Based Measures of student access, achievement, and attainment.
  • Foster collegiality and team-building among staff, encouraging their active involvement in decision-making.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, community and our IHE partners at TCC Northeast.
  • Mediate and facilitate effective resolution of the student and/or stuff conflicts in a timely fashion.
  • Support programs and action that facilitate a positive, caring climate for learning in an orderly, purposeful environment.

School/Organizational Improvement
  • Direct planning activities and implement programs, such as organized clubs and tutorials, collaboratively with staff to ensure attainment of the ECHS blueprint and district mission.
  • Work closely with both Collegiate Academy and Tarrant County College Northeast personnel and to maintain and utilize appropriate information systems and records for overall student support and campus improvement.
  • Participate in the development of campus improvement plans with GCISD staff, IHE staff, parents, and community
  • Assist the principal in the formulation policy and procedures in coordinating, planning, and articulating the overall educational program of the school and partner with the IHE.
  • In collaboration with the principal, counselor, and GCISD middle school staff, create a recruitment plan that maximizes our enrollment based on our MOU with TCC Northeast.

Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
  • Comply with district policies and regulations as well as state and federal law while pursuing the mission of the school. Additionally, communicate effectively with TCC campus police for safety drills and other needs.
  • Manage district textbooks, and monitor the purchase, use, and care of college course materials with the IHE bookstore.
  • Collaborate with TCC to ensure that all school facilities are clean, orderly, and safe.
  • Supervise operations in the principal's absence.
  • Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules and teacher assignments in coordination with IHE academic advisors
  • Coordinate all local and state testing.

Student Management
  • Assist faculty with the implementation of a student behavior management system that results in positive, collegiate, student behavior.
  • Develop and communicate to students, staff, and parents school guidelines for student conduct on both the high school and college campus. Become knowledgeable with the IHE code of conduct and communicate effectively with the Director of Student Conduct and Prevention at TCC Northeast.
  • Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and student discipline is appropriate and equitable
  • Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers concerning all aspects of student behavior. Additionally, be a liaison between our IHE and parents regarding the IHE code of conduct.
  • Supervise student activities as assigned by the principal.
  • Maintain accurate individual student disciplinary records.

Professional Growth and Development
  • Improve performance through assessment instruments, district appraisal process, evaluative feedback from teaching staff, and suggestions for improvement from appropriate sources.
  • Strive to improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.
  • Become knowledgeable in the Texas College and Career Readiness School Models (CCRSM), and stay up to date in any changes in model.
  • Utilize information and insights gained in professional development programs and CCRSM conferences for self-improvement.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with our IHE to maintain our strong partnership and find new ways to build positive, working relationships.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards and model behavior that is professional, and responsible.

School/Community Relations
  • Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit its support in making the mission of a high school and college experience for our students a reality.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the school community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
  • Promote community and parent involvement.
  • Ensure that there is a healthy two-way communication between the school and community.
  • Project/foster a positive image to the community.
  • Be adaptable in acceptance of changes in procedures to ensure alignment with our IHE.
  • Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding campus, district, and IHE matters.
  • Support the goals and objectives of the district and the ECHS blueprint.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
