Job description

Arcosa Lightweight is searching for a talented team player to fill the open position of Assistant Plant Manager in our Boulder, CO facility!

In this role, you will establish culture of SAFE production that integrates functional business plans with strategic objectives to meet the short and long-term goals of a lightweight aggregate manufacturing operation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Directs the activities and staff within a 24/7 production environment that is regulated by MSHA safety standards.
  • Chief employee advocate with leadership focus centered on safety as number one plant fundamental, followed by quality, productivity, housekeeping, and preventive maintenance.
  • You will specifically manage employees in various manufacturing, maintenance, quarry, and distribution departments. Managed activities may include but are not limited to the following: production operations, parts, and components management, purchasing, contract management, capital project management, budgeting, customer service and quality assurance.
  • You will nurture and develop plant employees into leaders, focusing on creating plant employees that embrace a culture of safety, and produce quality aggregates while following plant maintenance-prescribed procedures, and maintain a professional plant appearance.
  • Utilizes daily key performance indicators to drive operational excellence in maintenance, operations, and customer service.
  • Team builder who can communicate expectations to direct reports and drive the vision down to the lowest level.
  • Creates a culture throughout plant personnel that embraces customer service and seeks to build deep, lasting relationships with every level of customer organizations. Must comply with all company safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulations.
  • Champion ARC100 and associated Defined Activities
  • Apply knowledge of MSHA standards to bulk LW aggregate operations
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental permits (air and water)
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
  • Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers
  • Develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance standards
  • Consistent application of established standards/expectations
  • Improve operations through plant KPI tracking, cost tracking, staffing/training, maintenance practices etc.
  • Active hands-on leadership approach to develop team and establish world class culture.
  • Communicates plant activities with sales department, plant departments and corporate as needed.
  • Ensures quality control/quality assurance activities are completed per company policy and ASTM standards

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or minimum of 8 years manufacturing management at a supervisor or manger level desired
  • 10 years of Construction Materials experience preferred
  • Knowledge of shop mechanics and overall strong mechanical/electrical aptitude
  • Ability to think strategically and execute solutions tactically
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and consult schematics as needed.
  • Improves quality by minimizing variation and striving toward a consistent and repeatable process
  • P&L management with ability to manage cost through forecasting, budgeting, and driving operational efficiencies
  • Collaborative leader who can build teams and foster culture of trust, respect and winning
  • Title V Operating Permit experience desired
  • Ability to implement mining and reclamation plan for surface mining operation
  • Flexibility to work effectively in a changing environment; ability to adapt to changes in work environment, work assignments and/or changes in priorities.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and must be able to effectively present information to others.
  • Strong project management skills; highly organized and capable of effective, efficient multi-tasking and time management
  • Works independently while simultaneously directing the work effort of others.

Compensation and benefits

  • Salary is between $87K and $113K annually.
  • Local site incentive plan targeted at 10%
