Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics
LSUA College of Business
Louisiana State University of Alexandria invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics in the Department of Accounting and Finance. This is a full-time, nine-month position beginning in Fall 2023. The College of Business is ACBSP accredited and currently offers a BS in Accounting and a BS in Business Administration with various concentrations.
Position Description and Responsibilities: Responsible for teaching economics, including macroeconomics, microeconomics, and money and banking while fulfilling all the normal duties and responsibilities of a faculty member at Louisiana State University of Alexandria. These duties include maintaining academic qualifications for ACBSP, advising students, and performing appropriate departmental, university and community service. Teaching responsibilities are at the undergraduate level. Teaching load will consist of 12 hours per semester at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor and may include face to face, online, and hybrid courses. Summer teaching opportunities may be available.
Minimum qualifications: Qualifications for an Assistant or Associate Professor include a PhD or DBA in Economics from a regionally accredited program and at least three years of university level teaching experience in economics. ABD applicants will be considered provided that degree will be completed within the next two years. An applicant with an MBA or a Master of Science in Economics will be considered for the rank of Instructor. Relevant economics or business experience, face to face and online teaching experience, and course development are preferred. A commitment to and/or evidence of scholarly research is dependent upon rank. Courses to be taught are dependent on the Department's faculty needs. An additional credential to teach in another business discipline such as Finance would be valued. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a commitment to high quality teaching and intellectual contribution as well as exhibit excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
