Hartford Hospital is an 867 bed, academic medical center located in central Connecticut, one of the most desirable regions in the country in which to live.  Hartford Hospital boasts a vibrant inpatient care model and a well-established Hospital Medicine service. The 1,300 physicians practicing at Hartford Hospital are nationally regarded as amongst the most experienced practitioners in their fields.  This world class medical staff is supported by more than 6,000 highly skilled nurses and staff members.

As directed by the Hospital Medicine Division Director, the Assistant Director (AD) will act as a member of the leadership team joining the Practice Manager, Director and other ADs and administrative staff in the day to day management including clinical operations of the division, colleague support and providing quality patient care (both directly and indirectly).

  • Clinical Excellence: Focus on clinical care management, risk assessment, and the promotion of safe, high-quality care within our organization.

  • Colleague Support: Assist our provider staff in handling challenging patient cases and address patient concerns and grievances alongside our patient advocate.

  • Performance Enhancement: Provide valuable performance feedback to our provider staff, helping them excel in their roles.

  • HR and Staffing: Participate in HR-related activities within the division, ensuring that we have the right staffing in place and comply with HR policies.

  • Engagement and Communication: Actively contribute to divisional meetings, morning huddles, and unit progression rounds. Support our unit lead model.

  • Talent Acquisition: Collaborate in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding processes for new staff members.

  • Mentorship and Growth: Mentor and support new hires, fostering their growth and leadership development within our division.

  • External Engagement: Participate in external meetings and collaborations with other departments, influencing workflows that directly impact our hospitalist practices.

  • Resource Optimization: Evaluate and monitor care processes, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient hospital resource utilization.

  • Clinical Involvement: Depending on the need, you may have clinical responsibilities, either directly or indirectly through precepting and bedside patient care.

In this diverse and influential role, you'll blend clinical expertise and administrative leadership to shape the future of our division and the quality of care we provide. Join us in making a difference in healthcare!"
