Job Description:
The Assistant Manager, Program Operations, WSRE, is a full-time professional non-exempt position. This position reports to the Program Operations Manager, WSRE-TV. In whom performs Broadcast Operations, Media Management, On-Air Broadcast Promotions, & Master Control Emergency Recovery responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as Broadcast Operator in Master Control, following established programming protocols, executes program and log/play list preparation, appending, identifying program timing gaps or overlaps, "flags". Operates the AVECO broadcast automation for WSRE's multiple digital broadcast channels including operates special Live Programming in coordination with the Production Department.
- Schedules national & local programing working in the PBS internal Protrack Software System in close collaboration with the external 'Programming Service' with the scheduling of multiple digital broadcast channels programming, updates and changes.
- Produces the Nightly Line-up promo of prime time programs & weekly on-air promotional promos of upcoming high demand national content utilizing the Adobe Suite: video editing software.
- Recovers from On-Air Emergencies of Black or Dead AIR from technical, media and operator errors (while in office), monitors and reports technical and software anomalies to Engineering Department. Reports On-Air Discrepancies.
- Manages media acquisitions of externally produced programs, whether via satellite downlink recordings, electronic transfer via PBS sIX system, or physical shipment of videotape dubs from other stations. Provides similar in-kind service for other stations when possible. Purges Video Servers of old media.
- Coordinates with Development to schedule and verify broadcast of underwriting announcements, timing of Pledge events and handles traffic acquisitions of internal & externally produced funding spots.
- Assist in generating weekly, monthly, quarterly, fiscal and calendar year affidavits of underwriting spots for external distribution to clients including Florida Public Media, Department of Education, PBS, CPB and more.
- Works closely with the Marketing Department in unison in the promotion of new program premeiers and maintaining a PBS desired on-air look in media assets such as On-Air bugs & Lower third telephone graphics.
- Works closely and cooperatively with all other WSRE staff on miscellaneous programming-related needs & performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school, and seven years broadcast experience, including experience in master control and/or traffic management; and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and programming operations software. Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate degree in multi-media or television broadcasting, and five years related experience may substitute for the required experience. This position requires availability to work evenings, weekends, variable hours, and on call as requested. Successful results from a criminal background check are required.

SALARY RANGE: $34,500.00 - $38,000.00
