Job Responsibilities
  • Assists with the ordering of merchandise and stocking of inventory. Also assists with Bookstores Ecommerce Website and Web orders.
  • Provides exceptional customer service.
  • Assists Bookstore Manager with merchandising and floor displays.
  • Oversee cash transactions, cash reconciliations, account payments, account receivables and other cashier duties according to company policies.
  • Perform bank deposits and withdrawals according to established policies.
  • Generate cash related documents and sales reports.
  • Assist with Ordering, pricing, stocking, and fulfillment of Departmental orders, mail orders, as well as general merchandise.
  • Ensuring that in-store merchandise is properly displayed, stocked and labeled. This also includes assisting in the maintenance of the store e-commerce website.
  • Welcome customers, provide assistance and respond to their concerns.
  • Responsible for returning damaged and defective merchandise to vendors and ensuring all chargebacks are documented and credit/cash refunds are received.
  • Following up with Vendors are needed.
  • Assists Manager with overall Inventory management.
  • Ensuring on-hand inventories are correct and consistent with back-end inventory management system.
  • Also ensuring prices being charged at the register are correct with marked pricing.
  • Researches, orders and develops purchase orders for school supplies (electronics, backpacks, office supplies) as well as apparel and other merchandise to be sold in the bookstore.
  • Explores and creates artwork that is creative and exhibits solid brand recognition through developing partnerships with off-site vendors for apparel development.
  • Works to ensure selected items are of quality while maximizing cost.
  • Leads bookstore team on merchandise placement and ensures a seasonal inventory mix.
  • Works with Bookstore Director on building additional location sites to service through merchandise wagons and/ or other opportunities.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills and a commitment to strong customer service is required.
  • Must be able to answer business phones and follow general directions.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
  • High school diploma
  • 1-year related work experience
  • Requires the ability to type at a corrected rate of 35 wpm and demonstrate basic knowledge of computer operations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Retail Sales Experience - preferably in a College Bookstore.
