Assistant Manager, Engineers
Job Summary:
Supports the engineer manager in the following areas. Oversee the performance of skilled technicians and mechanics, performing diverse activities, such as installing, operating, repairing and maintaining material handling and construction equipment, water systems, mobile power gererators, fuel systems and HVAC equipment in support for MPF's maintenance operations. Through subordinate supervisors, assist in coordinating the activities of the department to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel. Reviews and analyze expenditure, financial, and operations reports to determine requirements and make recommendations to the maintenance director to maintain and or improve overall efficiency. Develop and maintain a strong, effective relationship / partnership with the customer, acting as primary interface between customer and daily operations/administration for the Engineer section. Create and foster a safe work environment for the section as per the site safet regulations.
Through subordinate supervisors, ensures that all completed work is in compliance with specifications and time schedules. Perform administrative management tasks and prepare related management reports. Maintain and or develop administrative and operations policies / procedures. Ensures the engineer branch as a whole is in compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and government regulations. Provid technical guidance/assistance as needed, make decisions where written guidelines are not clear or available. Assist in managing human resource activities within an organized labor union environment. Interview applicants and recommend candidates for hire. Maintain established performance objectives/goals. Monitors employee progress against goals. Approve the requisitioning, receipt and allocation of tools, parts, and material required for an Engineer shop. Developing labor and time estimates. Ensure engineers is produecing a quality end product to minimize rework. Maintain ISO-9002 & 14001 policies and procedures and ensures on-going compliance with such. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BS degree in industrial engineering or logistics management. In lieu of a degree, an equivalent combination of college credits, other formalized training or education, and directly related work experience will be considered.
- Ten (10) years of directly related work experience in a maintenance/logistic environment.
- Six (6) years of supervisory experience in a maintenance / logistic environment.
- Completion of the Basic Engineer Course.
- Ability to comply with all established methods, safety standards, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
- U. S. Citizen, Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and Base Access.
Additional Qualifications:
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Working knowledge and experience with MS Project
Working knowledge and experience with Global combat support system (GCSS)
Working knowledge and experience with Power Point, EXCEL, and ACCESS software.
Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
