SUMMARY:
The Assistant Manager BU Category Marketing role is responsible for executing volume growth strategies across Retail Deli and Foodservice Channels. This position serves as an assistant product manager and assistant brand manager for pre-made sandwiches with brands like Jimmy Dean® brand, Hillshire Farm® brand, and Big AZ® brand sandwiches. Core to the job will be assisting with marketing and selling materials, influencing 3-5 year category strategy and execution, financial analysis, pricing decision-making, and strategic thinking. Other responsibilities include proactively assisting the Team in all category-related activities including participating in pricing negotiations/contracts, SKU rationalization exercises, inventory management, forecasting, cost savings initiatives, gathering competitive intelligence, verifying product cost drivers, supporting the development of long and short-term category strategies and tactics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicate relevant issues to (and attain feedback from) cross-functional associates both in meetings and in offline conversations
- Engage with Business Unit teammates to evaluate and act upon any product management activities
- Development of marketing materials, selling stories, and advertising for specific category, as well as agency management.
- Assist in Collaborate with innovation on 3-year innovation strategy for your categories
- project managers to execute quality improvement initiatives, cost savings projects, and new product launches
- Assist in leading project managers to execute quality improvement initiatives, cost savings projects, and new product launches
- Assist in providing recommendations to the organization on category strategic selling propositions
- Work closely with Trade, Revenue Management, Pricing, and Finance on category opportunities to maximize total margins
- Evaluate forecasts and inventory levels, providing recommendations to maximize accuracy and avoid write-offs
- Monitor industry trends, market share product, competitive activity, fair market value and competitive products
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, finance, economics, accounting, engineering, or other business-related field is required. MBA interest preferred.
- Experience: Experience with the consumer-packaged goods industry, product management, project management, analyzing costs, making pricing decisions, financial modeling, problem solving, and general business management are preferred.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint is required. Experience in SAP, PowerBI, and excel add-ins preferred.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Polished presentation skills are a bonus.
- Travel: 1-4 Domestic trips per year.
