General Description
Under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Assistant Maintenance Technician primary duty is to assist the current Maintenance staff in maintaining the Center's facilities and perform regular repairs as well as Center vehicles. Assist in performing general repairs of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems as well as dry wall, carpentry, and painting. Upholds operational maintenance standards to prioritize the safety of clients, staff, and the broader public.
Performs minor building maintenance, removing trash and recycling materials, and prepare accurate repair and cleaning reports. Work involves assisting with construction, utility systems, stationary equipment and operating motorized equipment. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Education, Training and Experience (including licensure and certification)
High school diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year prior experience performing commercial building maintenance or related field (i.e., mechanical trades, HVAC repair, electrical repair, painting, carpentry, dry wall, etc.) preferred.
REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE OR OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must maintain a valid Texas driver's license, auto liability insurance and a driving record acceptable to the Centers insurance requirements.
- All job specific training must be completed within thirty (30) days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of relevant trades and ability to complete minor maintenance repairs.
- Knowledge and experience using hand and power tools.
- Skilled hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to follow instructions and work orders given both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to climb ladders and lift heavy objects.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
Essential Duties
1. Assists the maintenance team in carrying out routine maintenance tasks.
- Supporting and troubleshooting and diagnosing maintenance issues.
- Conducing inspections and basic repairs of equipment and machinery.
- Assists in maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Maintains cleanliness in the organization in maintenance areas and workshops.
- Responds promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
2. Performs minor repair work at each of the Denton County MHMR Center locations.
- Repairs doors, door locks and door frames.
- Replaces light bulbs, sockets, and switches.
- Assist in unclogging drains and fixing leaking faucets and toilets.
3. Assists in the maintenance of all outdoor areas.
- Assists in the maintenance of flower beds and Center grounds.
- Performs trimming of trees as needed.
4. Ensure company vehicles are maintained and kept in good working order.
- Facilitates prompt car maintenance by arranging for the timely drop-off of Center vehicles for oil changes and vehicle inspections as required.
