 Assistant Instructor -  IT & Customer Service Training

Job Location: Las Vegas

As an Assistant Workforce Instructor, you will work with our ITWorks Program and CXWorks Program that is designed to train participants for entry-level for certification and roles in IT and Customer Service

  WHO IS TECH IMPACT

Tech Impact is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help other nonprofits use technology to better serve our community. Our services enable nonprofits to plan for, implement, and effectively use technology tools to achieve their organizational goals. We have offices in Philadelphia PA, Wilmington DE, and Las Vegas, NV and have been delivering services since 2003 to thousands of national and international nonprofit organizations. Our ITWorks and CXWorks programs train over 150 adults each year with the opportunity to learn and grow their Customer Service and IT skills while assisting with job placement. We are looking for a training professional with a knack for technology and Customer Service for this full-time opportunity, with room for growth. 

ABOUT ITWORKS and CXWORKS 

  • ITWorks is a technology training program for young adults, 18-26 years old, who have a GED or high school diploma but have not completed college. The program consists of 11 weeks of intensive classroom training focused on the Cisco IT Essentials and CompTIA A+ certifications and a 5-week internship inside the IT department at a for-profit or nonprofit organization.   

  • CXWorks is a customer experience training program for adults 18 years or older, who have a GED or high school diploma but have not completed college. The program consists of 8 weeks of call center and Customer Service Training

  • Students receive intensive career guidance, mentoring, and valuable life skills that will help them succeed in their new careers.   

  • ITWorks and CXWorks both provide these students with an experience that will help improve their income potential for life.  All program services are provided free of charge to the student and are supported by the generosity of corporations, foundations, and individual donors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

We are looking for a technology-experienced individual who can support our ITWorks and CXWorks classrooms in Las Vegas, NV, transfer their knowledge to a group of eager students, and work with our great team to help train our students for opportunities in the technology and Customer experience industry. 

Instruction 

  • Have a strong sense of accountability for student achievement. 

  • Assist the ITWorks instructor in delivering the Cisco IT Essentials and CompTIA A+ Curriculum. 

  • Assist the CXWorks instructor in delivering the customer experience and digital literacy skills training.  

  • Provide extra help to students struggling with the curriculum. 

  • Act as a substitute teacher when a primary instructor is out. 

  • Familiarity with online platforms (WebEx, Zoom, etc) and LMS. 

  • Create a positive classroom environment and foster learning. Work tirelessly to keep our students motivated and help them create belief in themselves. 

  • Ability to adjust instructional strategies to reach the program’s goals. 

  • Have a strong Customer Service background, preferably in tech support or a call center environment. 

Support 

  • Prepare program laptops for participants in each cohort.  

  • Support the applicant recruitment and interview process. 

  • Support volunteers to deliver “Friday Session” professional and life-skills trainings, as needed. 

  • Ensure students’ technical skills meet the needs of internship and hiring partners. 

  • Help maintain healthy and productive relationships with students, staff, and partners.  

  • Organized tracking of student documents, student data, phone calls, and logging information into databases, etc. 

ESSENTIAL SOFT SKILLS FOR SUCCESS IN OUR POSITION  

  • Strong organizational skills. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.  

  • Desire to continue to learn and expand skill set.  

  • Drive for additional responsibility and career advancement through potential opportunities for promotion.  

  • Work well independently and within a team environment. 

  • Able to complete IC3 certification, Cisco IT Essentials certification and CompTIA A+ certification. 

  • Frequent exposure to new and challenging problems. 

  • Excellent troubleshooting techniques and willingness to contribute toward a culture of continuous learning and improvement. 

  • Flexible, able to multi-task, and enjoy working in a diverse, results-oriented workplace. 

  • Passion for the job and a little sense of humor.
