Benton County is searching for an exceptional HR professional to join our team as Assistant Human Resources Director!
Job Summary
This position is responsible for operational oversight of recruitment, onboarding, affirmative action, protected leaves of absence, ADA, and HR office management. The Assistant HR Director serves as project manager for HR initiatives and provides consultation to managers on complex employee and labor relations matters. The incumbent assists the HR Director with employee engagement, developing and implementing personnel policies, strategic planning, labor contract negotiations, organizational development, and establishing and monitoring HR performance measures. The Assistant HR Director may be designated to serve in the absence of the HR Director.

UNDERFILL OPTION:The goal is to fill this position as a Director 1. However, applicants who can meet the minimum qualifications for the Director 1 within one year or less of on-the-job training are encouraged to apply as "underfill" candidates. Employees hired into the Assistant Human Resources Director position as an underfill will be hired as a Program Manager 3 underfill and then re-classified to the Director 1 upon passing trial service and meeting the minimum qualifications for that classification.
  • Director 1 - Range D61 - Salary $86,949 - $134,770
  • Program Manager 3 Underfill - Range C43 - Salary $73,054 - $109,579

    • This position is eligible for up to two salary raises within your first year. An Increase may be given at the end of the 6-month probationary period, depending on starting salary, and at the 1-year anniversary, as long as your performance is in good standing! Annual performance-based increases are given until the maximum of the salary range is reached.

    Minimum Qualifications
    The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
    Director 1 (D61)
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, Public Administration, or related field.
    • 7 years progressively responsible Human Resources or related experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience.
      • Supervisory experience includes the authority to hire, terminate, assign, reward and discipline other employees.
    • Preference given to candidates demonstrating experience working in public sector environment, labor relations/collective bargaining, and current human resource certification: HRCI-SPHR, SH RM-SCP, IPMACP
    Program Manager 3 Underfill (C43)
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, Public Administration, or related field.
    • 5 years of progressively responsible Human Resources or related experience, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
      • Supervisory experience includes the authority to hire, terminate, assign, reward and discipline other employees.
    • Preference given to candidates demonstrating experience working in public sector environment, labor relations/collective bargaining, and current human resource certification: HRCI-SPHR, SH RM-SCP, IPMACP

    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
