Thanksgiving Point Golf Club is currently seeking to hire an Assistant Golf Course Mechanic to join our Agronomy department. This is an entry level position with no prior experience necessary to apply. An ideal candidate is looking for a career in the golf industry and wants to learn a skillset that is going to be highly sought after in coming years. This position will work with and be trained by our Mechanic, a 40+ year veteran in the industry. This position is a full time (40 hours/week), seasonal position beginning in early April and continuing through the end of November.
Under the supervision and direction of the Golf Course Mechanic and Superintendent, the Assistant Golf Course Mechanic’s duties will vary from day to day according to the needs and priorities of the Golf Course. Generally, the Assistant Mechanic’s duties will be divided into morning and afternoon tasks. Morning tasks will usually be spent on Golf Course preparation and maintenance (mowing, cutting cups, rolling, hand watering, raking bunkers, etc.), while afternoons are focused on vehicle and/or equipment maintenance/repairs in the mechanic shop. Note: This is certainly not an exhaustive list of tasks that may be required, merely examples.
To reiterate, no experience is required for this position. A positive attitude, desire to learn, and strong attention to details are the things we most value from prospective candidates. With that said, consideration will be given for candidates with experience in Golf Course operations, lawn care, mechanics, or other relevant fields.
