ASSISTANT, GIK (Gifts-In-Kind) - LOS ANGELES, CA - FOR CHILDREN'S HUNGER FUND, A FAITH-BASED NON-PROFIT

POSITION OVERVIEW - TEMPORARY PART-TIME 25 HR./WEEK:
The Assistant, Gifts-in-Kind (GIK) position supports the ministry of Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF) by working alongside the Director, Gifts In-Kind and Director, National Supply Chain & Logistics and Coordinator, Gifts-in -Kind, for inventory management of direct ship gifts-in-kind (GIK). The position will also provide customer service and logistical support to CHF program initiatives and strategic partner agencies.
Relates Closely With: Coordinator, Operations; Administrative Team
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Build strong relationships with CHF Domestic Distribution Agency (DDA) partners, maintaining a strong knowledge of current ministry and product needs
  • Field calls and emails for product offers, ensuring timely response and coordination with donating partners
  • Facilitate shared inboxes and supporting the Director, GIK in providing customer service to donor relationships
  • Enter and maintain Domestic Distribution Agency (DDA) data in Salesforce
  • Responsible for obtaining all necessary logistics information, completing the necessary paperwork, selecting loads, confirming proper delivery of the product, and assisting in tracking bills of lading for third-party shipments
  • Maintain the master list and digital file for Domestic Distribution Agency (DDA) partner applications
  • Maintain a master list of approved Domestic Distribution Agency (DDA) partner agencies
  • Assist in gathering feedback from DDA partners
  • Exercise efficient time management
  • Participate in (and contribute to) meetings as appropriate including: weekly all-staff meetings, departmental or regional team meetings, and planning meetings
  • Attend and participate in CHF events as needed and/or assigned, including: Volunteer Workdays, other special events such as banquets, receptions, etc.
Equipment:
  • Standard Office Equipment (telephone, computer workstation, printer, copier, scanner, calculator)
Work Environment:
  • Primarily: office, churches, public venues, commercial establishments; Occasionally: warehouse
Physical Demands:
  • Constantly exchange accurate information whether verbally or in writing
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office machinery such as telephone, printer, fax
  • Frequently work seated at a desk (at least 50% of the time) and for long periods of time such as for international air/ground travel as well as navigate uneven terrain by foot
  • Frequently move around inside the office to access files cabinets, attend meetings, utilize office machinery
  • Occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
  • Confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; active member of a gospel-centered, Christian local church; demonstrates ongoing growth in Christian maturity
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or equivalent knowledge and work experience
  • Ability to contribute to team projects positively and proactively, cooperate with team members, and assist supervisors in planning and evaluation
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and relationship-building skills
  • Able to speak publicly and professionally on behalf of CHF, communicating clearly about CHF’s mission, distinctives and ministry
  • Able to provide internal and external customer service in a professional manner, both in-person and on the phone including to answer questions, access and explain information, and problem-solve
  • Demonstrated integrity and fostering positive relationships
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
  • Able to maintain high level of confidentiality regarding financial and personal data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including MS Teams.
  • Previous experience with Salesforce is preferred, or related database experience
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications
