SOMOS Hospitality, the team behind Tzuco, has announced UMMO, a contemporary Italian dining concept opening in River North at 22 West Hubbard Street in July.
Helmed by Principal/Co-Founder Germán González and Chef/Partner Carlos Gaytán, with cuisine by Chef/Partner José Sosa and design by Karen Herold of Studio K Creative, UMMO will offer regional Italian cuisine. We are seeking Assistant General Manager for our brand new restaurant in River North.

Job Description:
- Leadership and Management:
- Assist the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, including front-of-house and back-of-house activities.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the restaurant staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Maintain high standards of service, cleanliness, and safety in all areas of the restaurant.
- Help develop and implement strategies to improve overall efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
- Customer Service:
- Ensure that guests receive exceptional service and resolve any customer complaints or issues in a professional manner.
- Monitor and maintain the restaurant's reputation by consistently meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
- Interact with customers to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments to improve the dining experience.
- Financial Management:
- Assist with budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis to achieve profitability targets.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, ordering supplies and ingredients as needed.
- Collaborate with the General Manager on pricing strategies and menu development to maximize revenue.
- Staff Training and Development:
- Assist in training new hires on restaurant policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to staff members to enhance their skills and performance.
- Foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and promote employee engagement.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Regularly inspect the restaurant to identify and address any potential hazards or maintenance issues.
- Train staff on proper food handling and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in restaurant management or supervisory roles is typically required.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a diverse team.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with customers, staff, and suppliers.
- Solid understanding of restaurant operations, including food and beverage service, inventory management, and financial analysis.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations with professionalism.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and willingness to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
