PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
A highly qualified corporate generalist attorney handling complex commercial legal matters on behalf of the Company, including commercial and procurement matters and projects.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Under minimal supervision, handles myriad commercial and procurement matters in support of all business units, including general legal advice, contract review, drafting, negotiation; addresses warranty, breach, service level and other performance issues; evaluates both legal and business risks and advises clients, accordingly; and provides guidance and training on general procurement and emergent commercial issues.
- Projects / duties as assigned.

- Works independently and with other attorneys on complex commercial matters with Business Units and outside counsel.
- Demonstrates superior judgment in the legal and business context.
- Demonstrates ability and willingness to solve complex, difficult problems and be very pro-active in doing so.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania or Washington, D.C.
- At least 5 to 8 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years of professional experience in commercial matters.
- Requires excellent legal analytical and drafting abilities and ongoing, extensive knowledge of commercial and information technology law and contracts. Must have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; to read and analyze legal materials and other data; to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines; and to provide realistic risk assessments and practical advice to clients.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with government grants, including drafting and negotiating grant documents and contracts, and knowledge of regulated utilities are a plus.
