Job description

This is a management position that oversees all functions of the evening/overnight shift for the hotel, with a focus on the PM and night audit operations. The Night Manager is the Manager on Duty for all associates who work during the PM/overnight shifts, including night audit, bell staff, valet, stewarding, housekeeping, engineering, F&B, Banquets, security, and telephone.

The Night Manager is primarily responsible for supervising the PM/night audit operations to ensure the maintenance of financial controls and compliance with hotel standards. Coordinate with other departments (i.e. security, housekeeping) to ensure quality service is provided to all guests.

  • Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication, and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
  • Supervise the PM shift and night audit/hotel associates; review and verify daily work.
  • Supervise the balancing, reconciliation and closing of various daily accounts and prepare the daily statements to provide accurate, timely information to management while ensuring proper controls are maintained.
  • Control the PM shift and Night Audit Bank.
  • Review timecards on a daily basis and complete daily and weekly/bi-weekly payroll reports.
  • Perform functions of Night Auditors as needed to provide coverage and ensure completion of work in a timely, accurate manner. Prepare the daily activity sheet, report all noteworthy events and serious accounting violations.
  • Respond to customer issues, complaints, or problems in a quick, efficient manner to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality service.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of hotel management experience required
  • Food and Beverage knowledge preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficient with Opera PMS system and computer literacy a must.
  • Advanced knowledge of brand’s reward program.
  • Able to handle cash and credit transactions.
  • Basic mathematical skills and ability to make accurate mathematical calculations using a 10- key
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Communicate well with guests.
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of all Front Office and hotel operations and individual job requirements.
  • Able to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high level of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks at all times and have excellent organizational skills.
  • General knowledge of local area attractions and transportation.
  • Must be able to stand up for 4 or more hours at a time with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and customers.
  • Able to remain calm and alert, during emergency situations and/or heavy hotel activity, serving as a role model for clerks and other associates.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
