Assistant FootballCoach
Athletics Non Compete Position
JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Football Coach reports to the Head Football Coach while workingcollaboratively with the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, Head AthleticTrainer and other Assistant Coaches. The Asst. Football Coach will workwith the Head Football Coach in all aspects of design, development,implementation, monitoring and assessment of game and practice strategies forassigned student-athletes at the NCAA Division II level.
MAJOR DUTIES
Provide leadership, organization and supervision for all practices andcontests.
Implement and maintain standards of performance consistent with departmental,academic, and athletic expectations.
Work with the Head Football Coach to organize and implement a successfulrecruiting program to attract outstanding student-athletes to attendNortheastern State University.
Conduct aspects of the program within the rules, regulations, and procedures ofthe NCAA, MIAA, the intercollegiate athletics department policy manual and theUniversity.
Attend and participate in department and staff meetings and events.
Review student-athlete eligibility requirements to ensure full compliance withgoverning rules and regulations.
Maintain a positive and constructive working relationship with University anddepartmental support staff to ensure an efficient and effective program anddepartment.
Represent the University at professional meetings, alumni gatherings, campusactivities and civic affairs.
Maintain relationships with parents, alumni, friends of the program, and otherstoward the positive image and promotion of the program
Be knowledgeable of and fully comply with all appropriate rules and regulationsof Northeastern State University, the MIAA Conference and the NCAA
Prepare, record and retain documentation as required
Adhere to the mission statement and guiding principles of the Department.
Perform other duties as assigned by the direct sport report and the Director ofAthletics
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Experience recruiting and retaining a diverse group of successfulstudent-athletes
Competitive coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level
Strong commitment to student-athlete academic achievements and characterdevelopment
Effective communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to work effectively and productively within a team-based approach
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a high demand/high stressprofession
Ability to respond professionally and competently
Ability to contribute to a positive work environment
Ability to set challenging goals and seek continuous improvement
Ability to demonstrate leadership characteristics within athletics andthroughout the university
Computer and social media technology competency
Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license.
Demonstrated knowledge of, and relevant ability with, culturally diversecommunities among potential target and constituent populations.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
When applicable, the Asst. Football Coach will supervise intern(s), GraduateAssistants, and student managers who assist during football sessions. Thesupervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisorspot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and thenature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include department and university policies and procedures. Theseguidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require someinterpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of related administrative and management duties. Frequentinterruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to manage assigned operations.Success in thisposition contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations.

Contacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, students,faculty, and members of the general public.
Contacts are typically to provide services, to give or exchange information, orto resolve problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed standing while coaching and demonstratingfootball activities. The employee regularly lifts heavy objects.
The work is typically performed in an office, the stadium, and outdoors incold/hot or inclement weather.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
When applicable, the Assistant Football Coach might supervise graduate studentworkers who assist with tasks as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree
Master's preferred
First Aid/CPR/AED certified
Certified as a speed, strength and conditioning coach issued by a certifyingentity.
