Job Summary/Basic Function
Under general supervision from the Fire Marshal, provides technical assistance in the prevention of fires.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Inspects public buildings for fire safety inspections, supervises and inspects extinguishers for re-tag and maintenance, oversees sprinkler and hood tests, administers pyrotechnic permits along with assembly permits and use. Coordinates / conducts public education classes.
Aids Fire Marshal in completing reports and special projects. Assists in reviewing building and fire sprinkler plans to assure fire code requirements are met.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a valid Utah Driver License; must be Fire Code certified within one (1) year of appointment. — Must be Fire Inspector I certified within one (1) year of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications
Excellent Communication skills.

Physical Requirements of this position
