Assistant Fire Chief/Medical Officer

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled & experienced Firefighter/EMT to join our team, here at the City of Pawnee, to serve as the Assistant Fire Chief & Medical Officer. This is a leadership role that requires strong clinical knowledge, strategic thinking, and effective communication skills. Hours will be Mon.-Fri. from 8am-5pm, including subject to call back. As a First Responder, you will be provided a First Responder F-150 equipped for emergency services & benefits which include: Oklahoma Firefighter Pension & Retirement, Health Insurance, Paid Holidays, Sick Days & Vacation.

Assistant Fire Chief Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist the Fire Chief/Emergency Services Director with the operations of the Fire Department.

Medical Officer Duties/Responsibilities:

Overseeing the operation of the Ambulance Service, which includes the following:
- Make all reports as required by all applicable state or federal agencies & as required by the Fire Chief & Mayor.
- Maintain & request all equipment, repairs & all other needs of the ambulance service.
- Register all names of the members of the ambulance, length of service, and any other information requested by the Fire Chief, Mayor or City Clerk.
- Safeguard all EMS apparatus used by the ambulance service.
- Fleet maintenance
- Account for all property
- Lead monthly ambulance service meetings
- Provide trainings to ambulance service members
- Provide an environment focused on growth for each member of the ambulance service.

Qualifications:
- 3 years firefighter experience, Officer experience preferred.
- 3 years EMT experience
- Ability to become an AEMT within 2 years of hiring
- Ambulance Service experience preferred

Skills:
- Mechanical knowledge (e.g., understanding of medical equipment)
- Basic life support (BLS) certification or Advanced life support (ALS) certification
- Proficiency in vital signs assessment
- First aid knowledge and skills
- CPR certification
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary
- Driving experience
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex issues & develop innovative solutions

Pay: $16.50 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
