About Assistant Facilities Manager:
Assists the Linn County Facilities Director with supervising maintenance and custodial staff in the day-to-day operations of county buildings and grounds. Manage and use multiple building software systems to keep buildings performing at high customer satisfaction level. Knows the County's Customer-Centered Culture principles, the County's Mission, Strategic Plan and Core Values and demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction for all customers on a regular basis.
  • Assists the Linn County Facilities Director with overseeing various projects, including remodeling, plumbing, electrical, HVAC improvements and repairs, carpentry, keying, painting, and cleaning of County buildings and grounds.
  • Assists the Linn County Facilities Director with supervision of maintenance and custodial staff. Recommends hiring and disciplinary actions. Supervises staff and documents work performance with employee feedback. Approves timesheet entries and time away from work requests.
  • Contacts vendors for cost estimates for equipment, supplies and out-sourced services. Manages contracts and vendors for out-sourced services.
  • Interacts with elected officials and department heads in scheduling maintenance, repair or remodeling projects and acquiring supplies and equipment for those projects. Manages contracts and vendors on projects.
  • Collaborates with Information Technology department on maintenance of wireless surveillance cameras including ordering parts, selecting appropriate placement locations, and directing staff on installation and repair of hardware.
  • Manages, monitor, and use computer systems to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. Building Automation(BAU), Computerized Maintenance Management System(CMMS), Microsoft Suite, Budgeting Software, and Timecard system.
  • Performs a variety of physical tasks associated with maintenance and repair of equipment including bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, twisting, crawling, reaching, and sitting. Standing and walking frequently, sometimes on uneven and unstable surfaces. Work may be performed under adverse weather conditions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Knows the products they personally produce and the customers of each product. Listens to the "Voice of the Customer "and closes gaps between customer expectations and experience whenever possible.
  • Associate degree in technical, business, math, or general studies is required.
  • Four (4) years of experience in construction, maintenance, or technical service field. An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
  • Must be able to read manuals, correspondence from other elected officials, department heads, billings from vendors, and employees' files.
  • Ability to interact and communicate clearly with the public, elected officials, department heads, other employees, and vendors.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with assisting in budget preparation and budget accountability.
  • Requires the exercise of considerable initiative and independent analytical and evaluative judgment.
  • Working experience in scheduling work for all buildings and staff.
  • Must have supervision experience and knowledge/experience with labor contracts.
  • Ability to use computers with related software, printers, phone, mechanical hand tools, welders, lifting devices, mowers, trimmers, snow blowers.

Special Requirements:
Must pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of employment. Subject to credit and criminal history review. Valid Driver's License required. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds. Regular work attendance required. Must remain awake and aware of surroundings at all times.Monday - Friday
