This Assistant Facilities Engineer position is located in our Plant Operations Department.
Hours:
This is a full-time benefited position, 40 hours per week, variable hours as needed. Will be on-call during times of snowfall, for snow removal assistance.
Starting Salary:
$21.90 - 31.01/hr and up (Rate is for 1-30 years of experience. Rate is based on years of experience.)
What you'll do:
- Work as a member of our Engineering team to assist the engineering staff with the maintenance and preventative maintenance of mechanical equipment associated with the facility.
- Assist with the repair and maintenance of office equipment, housekeeping, laundry and dietary equipment and some patient care equipment such as wheelchairs.
- You will be assigned projects for light bulb replacement, relocation of furniture and equipment, groundskeeping, snow removal, painting, and clean-up of buildings, mechanical spaces, vehicles and equipment.
- Perform a variety of tasks and maintenance duties to meet the needs of the facility including but not limited to; work in plumbing, wall patching and painting, maintenance and cleanup of equipment, buildings, grounds and vehicles.
- This position will work closely under the guidance of the Facilities Engineers and is supervised by the Facilities Director.
What you'll need:
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or GED with some basic background in painting and general maintenance.
- Have a valid Alaska driver’s license.
- Be able to read, write and understand English; and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Be able to pass a Job Function Test in our Rehab Department, and meet the physical demands of the job.
- Have knowledge in the care and use of a variety of hand and power tools.
- Have basic computer skills.
- Have good communication and listening skills.
- Have good organizational and decision-making skills with the ability to set appropriate priorities
- Be able to perform work with attention to detail, be flexible in work assignment be able to work competently in stressful situations.
