Description

Rockhurst University seeks anAssistant Director of Student Life. This 12-month position will offer a competitive salary. Evening and weekend work are required. Rockhurst is a Catholic, Jesuit university serving 3,000 students in the business and cultural center of Kansas City, MO. It is a comprehensive university offering more than fifty undergraduate and graduate programs taught by nationally recognized faculty. We employ approximately five hundred faculty and staff.

Student Development is looking for a motivated higher education professional committed to student learning and development to fill this position. The incumbent will:

  • Provide advice and guidance for fraternity and sorority community and programs including four fraternities, four sororities, Panhellenic Council, and Fraternity Council
  • Collaborate with the Alumni and Advancement office to plan and execute Family and Alumni Weekend including components that involve students, alumni, faculty, staff, vendors, and the Kansas City Community.
  • Advise and provide guidance for Student Activities Board and traditional late night and evening programs.
  • Helps guide mission driven programming and alcohol alternative programming that connects all students to campus and their community
  • Communicates regularly with booking agent; works with student leaders to identify acts to bring to campus
  • Collaborates with internal departments (i.e., Finance Office, Physical Plant, Computer Services, Dining Services) and external companies (i.e., sound and light companies, social activity vendors, transportation agencies, etc.) for student and stakeholder programming
  • Coordinate alcohol and other drug education and prevention and health and wellness programming.
  • Co-Chairs the Partners in Prevention Rockhurst Committee
  • Member of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and Sexual Assault Prevention & Education Team (SAPET)
  • Hire, train and supervise work-study student staff
  • Oversee and implement bystander intervention programming
  • In partnership with Director of Student Life, manage Rockspace, the student engagement platform hosted by Modern Campus / Presence
  • Maintain Student Life social media accounts
  • Instruct the Student Leader/Fraternity and Sorority Life Leadership 1-credit hour course, when offered in the College of Business Influence and Information Analysis
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Life or Associate Dean of Students & Families

Qualifications:

  • A masters degree in student Affairs or Higher Education is required.
  • Experience in full-time student affairs work post-masters degree for at least two years preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Experience with event management and contracting preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Banner, Slate, and Argos preferred.
