Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Student Involvementfor Student Media Programs will work in an energetic community to further the development and vision of the Student Media organizations at Villanova University. The Assistant Director of Student Involvement - Student Media Programs will play a crucial role in advising and supporting the Student Media organizations within the Office of Student Involvement including the on-going support, and the educational and leadership development efforts within those programs. The Assistant Director of Student Involvement - Student Media Programs serves as an integral team member contributing to all Office of Student Involvement efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Advise the Student Media organizations within the Office of Student Involvement including the Villanovan newspaper, Villanova's radio station (WXVU), the television production club (VTV), Villanova's student-run sound and lighting organization (VUTC), and the Belle Air Yearbook. Duties include overseeing Student Media organization budgets as well as on-going student advising support. As a part of advising the Student Media organization, facilitate the development of the Media Student Council, which will be comprised of Student leaders from the various Student Media organizations to assist with implementing training programs related to technical knowledge and leadership development.
• Supervise the WXV and U Health Operations Manager who works in partnership with Villanova Faculty from the M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing to further co-curricular learning opportunities. The WXV and U Health Operations Manager will support the Villanova students with approximately 8 hours per week providing audio production education, support, and editing for programs to air on WXVU.
• Assist the Office of Student Involvement with creating quality programming for Students, particularly during student move-in, Labor Day Weekend, beginning of the semesters, and other key moments that impact the student experience at Villanova University. Oversee Villanova's Junior Class Ring Program as a part of Family Weekend including the promotion of the Villanova Ring Program to Villanova students.
• Oversee Student Involvement's student engagement and social media platforms including the offices social media outreach, and strategies for Student marketing. The Assistant Director will supervise work-study students to assist with creation of videos and related marketing needs.
• Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required in higher education, student personnel, communication / media production, or related field
• 1+ year(s) experience in higher education
• Appreciation for the mission and values of Villanova University and Catholic Higher Education
• Demonstrated knowledge of Student development theories
• Willingness to learn new technologies that will facilitate communication and media components of the position
• Demonstrated familiarity with and sensitivity to cultural diversity concerns and anti-racism.
• The individual must have a deep commitment to the flourishing of Villanova University, its students and mission, and an understanding of Villanova's Augustinian and Catholic values.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and program planning skills; proactive attitude, thinking, and work ethic; willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends; strong computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree preferred
• 2 - 3 years experience preferred
• Experience with Student Media advising
• Desktop publishing and website design skills

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
The Office of Student Involvement's professional staff interacts extensively with students and supports, implements, and participates in evening and weekend programming. Consequently, it is common for meetings and events to be scheduled beyond traditional working hours. The Assistant Director should anticipate the need to work into evenings and on weekends, as required, throughout the academic year, particularly during the start of the semester.
The Office of Student Involvement is a high-traffic and busy work environment with multiple peak periods of work activity across the calendar year. Interruptions of work tasks to attend to phone or walk-in inquiries are the norm. The Assistant Director provides support directly to students on campus.
