We are seeking an Assistant Director of Financial Services, who under the guidance of the Director of Financial Services, will be responsible for the entire accounting function of the agency. This includes preparation and issuing of financial statements, managerial accounting reports and all government accounting requirements including working with auditors on the review of financial data. The Assistant Director will directly supervise the payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable staff members and will represent the agency in all financial matters in the absence of the Director of Financial Services.

Responsibilities:

  • Protect the assets of the agency. Ensure accounting procedures and internal controls are followed. Make recommendations on new procedures as needed
  • Maintain, implement upgrades, and make improvements of general ledger system including: revising chart of accounts, general ledger, and financial statement formats as needed
  • Maintain, implement upgrades, and make improvements of accounts receivable system including: revising formats and reports as needed, reviewing A/R's and Medicaid billings with A/R Bookkeeper.
  • Participates in collections process and makes recommendations to increase collections
  • Maintain, implement upgrades, and make improvements of accounts payable system; audit A/P reports, work with A/P Bookkeeper to maximize cash flow
  • Maintain and implement upgrades of accounting systems including ADP Payroll and Human Resources System
  • Periodically review staff functions and procedures to identify process improvements and opportunities for automation

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • B.A. degree in business, accounting, or related field
  • Four years’ experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a not‐for‐profit setting
  • Knowledge of the principles of accounting
  • Knowledge of accounting subsystems ‐ A/R, A/P, Payroll, Fixed Assets
