This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Development Operations and works closely with colleagues in the Development and Alumni Relations office. The Assistant Director of Donor Relations helps manage Bellarmine's comprehensive and strategic stewardship program.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities
- Develops reports on the University's endowed funds to the Business Office and Development staff
- Nurtures Donor Relationships through various milestone acknowledgements
- Supports the unique donor experience through personalized recognition, events and storytelling including the President's Society, welcome packets, birthday and holiday cards, send flowers, etc.
- Partners with staff to support the creation of content for digital and print communications opportunities to connect with donors including the President's Society newsletters, Parent's Circle newsletters, mailing lists, etc.
- Oversees the editing process, and supervises research, drafting and mailing of personalized and timely stewardship reports to donors on endowed and current use funds
- Works collaboratively with the Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations and Assistant Vice President of Development Operations to develop and implement a robust program for the Board of Overseers. This includes meeting management such as meeting schedules, agendas, communications etc.
- Tracks donor membership in Bellarmine's President Society and all other various giving societies
- Communicates with the Financial Aid Office to assure appropriate students are matched to Bellarmine's named scholarship/fellowship funds, track and mail student thank you letters, and any other special events for donors and students
- Oversees the management of data records regarding stewardship reporting responsibilities and reporting information in Colleague and other donor/alumni databases. Research obituaries and updates as necessary
- Identifies and resolves any issues related to the administration of reporting endowed funds
- Serves as the lead on University stewardship events, e.g. Heritage Society
- Partners with major gift officers on the development of gift proposals and other tools to engage major and principal gift donors and prosects in philanthropic opportunities
- Oversees a master stewardship calendar and manages information tracking process to ensure that all gifts requiring personalized acknowledgments and stewardship receive it in a timely manner; assist with special event mailing lists for President's Society, Heritage Society, Alumni Magazine, etc.
- Writes personalized thank you letters for Dr. Donovan to donors for certain levels and collaborate on template development for various giving circles
- Implements various Heritage Society experiences
- Collaborates with development officers to create custom donor experiences
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Self-motivated and desire to work individually and as a team for the betterment of the University as a whole
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills for the engagement, solicitation, and stewardship of Donors
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills to build relationships across diverse populations and constituencies
- Ability to work across multiple technology platforms and systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of development experience or related experience in sales, marketing, or customer service
