Description
Reporting to the Director of Campus Operations, the Assistant Director of Custodial Services is responsible for delivering high quality and reliable custodial, event support, and emergency response services on the 6am to 2pm custodial shift, and coordinates evening custodial and event services. Must be available to work major University events, occasional weekends/holidays, and weather-related emergencies. Occasional shift flex time may be required.

- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in managing union custodians, staff development and training, snow removal operations and special event operations.
- Provides athletic support operations and operational support for the Hofstra Zucker School of Medicine.
- Possesses a strong background in the use of computerized work management and event scheduling systems to efficiently allocate resources.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning, disinfecting, safety procedures and experience in the operation of commercial custodial equipment.
- Possesses knowledge of the proper handling, storage, and application of Custodial products.
- Ability to manage diversified responsibilities across multiple campus buildings in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license.
- Minimum seven years of experience supervising unionized custodial operations in a multiple building residential campus setting, preferably in higher education.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of PPE and Blood Borne Pathogen regulations, equipment and procedures.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and interact effectively with a broad range of campus guests, students, faculty, and staff.

Salary/Salary Range
$90,000 - $96,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions.
